BUCKHANNON — The Upshur County Democratic Women hosted an Upshur County Democratic Candidate Meet and Greet on April 1 at Pretty Peonies Parlor, drawing a crowd of area residents to hear from candidates running for offices ranging from Buckhannon City Council to the U.S. Senate.
Guests were offered a light refreshment bar and a selection of drinks while each candidate spoke briefly to explain their platforms and take questions from attendees as the group mingled.
“The Upshur County Democratic Women are very pleased with the turnout for our Meet and Greet. We thank the candidates who took time to come to Upshur County to both educate our community and listen to our citizens’ concerns,” said Holly Tunning Canfield, Upshur County Democratic Women president.
Candidates on hand included Buckhannon City Council candidate Abigail Wiernik; West Virginia House of Delegates and State Executive Committee candidate Mira Tanner-Hughes; State Executive Committee candidate Cindy Stemple; West Virginia Senate candidate Kevin Carpenter; U.S. House of Representatives candidates Steven Wendelin, Ace Parsi and Stephanie Spears Tomana; and U.S. Senate candidate Thornton Cooper.
