BUCKHANNON — Upshur County Community Education Outreach Services (CEOS) is accepting applications for the 2023 Upshur County Junior Belle.

Applicant must be an Upshur County resident, be a 4H member and be in 3rd or 4th grade. Applicant must be willing to represent Upshur County by attending local events throughout the year and also attend the WV State Folk Festival.

Applications may be picked up at the Upshur County Extension Office located at 91 West Main Street, Suite 102, Buckhannon, WV 26201. 304-473-4208. All applications must be returned to the Upshur County Extension Office by the January 10, 2023 deadline.

Residents reminded to report stream debris blockages following recent flooding

Upshur County residents should report flood-related stream debris blockages to the Tygarts Valley Conservation District at 304-457-3026. Assessments require property owner permission, and culverts or other man-made drainage structures are not eligible.

West Virginia Wesleyan’s Bobcats were picked seventh in the 2026 MEC men’s golf preseason poll. Defending champion Charleston topped the rankings, while the conference championship is set for Oct. 4-6 at Stonewall Resort.
