BUCKHANNON – Several law enforcement agencies were involved in activity Friday at a house on the corner of Meade and Lightburn streets in Buckhannon.
Officers from the FBI Pittsburgh Field Office, the City of Pittsburgh Police Department and the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office were seen at 10 Meade St., the home of former Buckhannon mayor and current city councilman David McCauley. Law enforcement remained at the home Friday morning and into the afternoon.
Catherine Policicchio, public affairs officer for the FBI’s Pittsburgh Field Office, confirmed the FBI was “conducting law enforcement activity” at the residence but would not elaborate on its nature, including whether charges would be filed.
Policicchio said the field office was involved because its jurisdiction covers all of West Virginia and Western Pennsylvania.
The City of Buckhannon issued a brief statement Friday afternoon in a press release.
“The City of Buckhannon has been made aware of an investigation involving a member of City Council,” the release says. “The city will continue to closely follow this case, and will act appropriately as facts emerge, but the city has no further comment at this time.”
