CEOS clubs and Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital host Breast Cancer Luncheon

WESTON, WV – October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital and the Lewis County CEOS Clubs are encouraging people to learn more about the importance of early detection for breast cancer.

As part of this effort, the group is organizing a Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon on Tuesday, October 11 at Noon at the Broad Street United Methodist Church parking lot. Participants can call 304-269-4660 to register for the event.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States behind skin cancer. It accounts for about 30% (or one in three) of all new female cancers each year. Regular mammograms are the best method to detect breast cancer early. Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital offers 3D mammography, which can find 20-65% more invasive breast cancers compared to 2D alone.

A mammogram can find breast changes that could be cancer years before physical symptoms develop. Results from many decades of research clearly show that women who have regular mammograms are more likely to have breast cancer found early, less likely to need aggressive treatment (like surgery to remove the entire breast [mastectomy] and chemotherapy), and more likely to be cured.

To make an appointment or to learn more 3D Mammography, visit MonHealth.com/Mammogram or call 304-269-8075.
