ASHLAND, OHIO – The West Virginia Wesleyan (1-3) lacrosse team dropped a road non-conference game Saturday at Ashland (1-5) by a score of 19-5 at Ferguson Field.
 
WVWC Leaders
Emma Adcock led the Lady Bobcats offensively with two goals. The freshman fired five shots on goal and collected three ground balls. Gabrielle Holstein, Makenzi Lewellyn and Kaitlynn Canby each chipped in a goal for WVWC. Adely Trujillo-Gonzalez dished out an assist. Maggie Wroe made 11 saves.
 
Ashland Leaders
Natalie Sonntag and Cassady Becker each scored four goals for the Eagles. Cora Wilson dished out three assists. Becker and Camryn English both scooped up three ground balls. Sonntag and English each caused three turnovers. Nadine Elbarrad collected the win and made one save.
 
Inside the First Half
The Eagles scored two goals within the first four minutes of the game. The Lady ‘Cats responded when Adcock scored an unassisted goal with 10:24 in the first quarter to cut the deficit in half. Ashland put the lead back to two goals after Adcock’s score. Lewellyn capitalized on a power play goal that put Wesleyan within one midway through the first quarter. The Eagles scored three unanswered goals and led 6-2 at the end of the first quarter.
 
Canby scored to put WVWC within four points. The Eagles scored five consecutive goals and built a nine-point lead. Holstein stopped the Eagles’ scoring run with a goal at the 6:32 mark in the second quarter. Ashland held a 14-4 lead at the end of the first half.
 
Inside the Second Half
The Eagles padded their lead with five straight goals to start the second half. Adcock got her second goal of the game with 39 seconds to go in the final quarter of play. Trujillo-Gonzalez assisted Adcock on the goal. Ashland claimed a 19-5 home win.
