WVWC Acro & Tumbling team picked fifth in MEC preseason poll

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — West Liberty has been picked to win the 2022 Mountain East Conference Acrobatics & Tumbling Championship, the league announced today after a vote of the league coaches. 

The Hilltoppers, last season’s runner-up at the MEC Championship, finished first in the poll with 34 points and had four first-place votes. WLU welcomes back nearly its entire roster from last year’s Mountain East Conference runner-up squad, headlined by a trio of returning first-team All-MEC selections in Kenzie Kyle, Lexus Ficca and Sydney Schumacher.

West Liberty finished just ahead of two-time conference champion Fairmont State in the poll. The Falcons had 33 points and had three first-place votes.

Frostburg State was third in the poll with 24 points. Glenville State was next with 18 points, followed closely by West Virginia Wesleyan (17 points), Davis & Elkins (12) and Alderson Broaddus (6).

The 2022 MEC Championship will be held April 8-9 on the campus of Fairmont State University.
