Weston, W.Va. – When Marilynn Lindaberry was hospitalized with COVID-19 before Christmas at Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, she knew the outcome could be bad and could only think of her family and what might happen to them without her around. The situation worsened when her husband became sick with COVID-19 within days of her diagnosis and was also hospitalized.
“My doctor gave me all the information I needed to know about how bad my condition was and explained that the only option was to be placed on a ventilator,” said Marilynn. “I was not mentally prepared to hear that was my only option and that they were not seeing good results.”
Marilynn worried for her special-needs adult son and her ten-year-old granddaughter. She requested her church family, friends, and relatives to pray for her healing.
“People are dying around the world and then it was my turn to be placed on the ventilator. People were in prayer for me constantly,” she said.
She did not remember how long she was unconscious, but she remembers clearly opening her eyes, recognizing where she was, and then realizing that she was still alive…and hungry.
“I was sitting up in bed and eating soup when my nurse came in and was so happy to see me. The doctor checked in on me as well to provide good news and assured me he had never seen anything like what had happened to me,” she recalled. “I was on the ventilator for only four days which was unheard of – it should have been minimally two weeks to a month. I was shocked but thrilled to hear how God intervened and healed me quickly.”
Marilynn is thankful for the care that she received from the ICU staff at Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital and recognized them for being incredibly caring, pleasant, helpful, funny, and upbeat during her stay.
“These people as a team helped me through the most difficult time of my life. I cannot give enough thanks and praise to them as they have given me the best care I could have ever received. I appreciate each of them for all they do.”
