Man apprehended after multi-county high-speed chase that began in Upshur County

A Harrison County man was arrested Tuesday evening after evading police both in a car and on foot during a chase that spanned three counties.

Zachery Michael Shook, of Mount Clair, led law enforcement on a multi-county high-speed chase, the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office said in a post on social media. The pursuit began in Upshur County and covered 38 miles through Lewis County and into Harrison County.

Shook was apprehended in Stonewood after abandoning his vehicle and fleeing on foot into a wooded area. Drones, K-9 units and officers from multiple agencies were deployed in the search for Shook, according to the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office.

Shook will face charges in both Upshur and Harrison counties for felony fleeing and felony fleeing while under a controlled substance, the post said. The criminal complaint in Upshur County was not immediately available Wednesday.

The Upshur County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to all the assisting agencies involved in the operation.
