WV Girl Scouts appear on Good Morning America during United Nations conference

Four members of Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council took the national stage this week, appearing on Good Morning America while attending the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in New York City.

The appearance coincided with National Girl Scout Day and featured the four scouts speaking about using their voices to advocate for women and girls around the world.

“For every girl you see on this stage today, there are countless others who are denied a voice due to so many types of barriers,” said Ellie, a Girl Scout from the Black Diamond Council attending the conference. “We are here providing a voice for them, and we are also showing them that their own voice matters.”

The four Girl Scouts attending are Emma O’Loughlin, Charlotte Hoblitzell, Ellie Hoblitzell and Abigail Phillips.

The conference, held annually at United Nations headquarters in New York City, brings together policymakers, organizations and youth leaders to discuss advancing gender equality and expanding opportunities for women and girls.
