Yardley scores 22 as JV Bucs win 44-30 over Eagles

CLARKSBURG – With Luke Yardley dropping in 22 points, half of the Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity offense, the JV Bucs walked away with an easy 44-30 win over the homestanding Robert C. Byrd Eagles Friday evening.

With Jaden Westfall scoring five points, Nathaniel Ringer four and Yardley three, the JV Bucs took the first quarter by a 12-7 margin.

The JV Bucs doubled up the Eagles at the break, at 24-12, with Yardley scoring eight second-quarter points and Westfall and Jonas Barton two each.

The Eagles took the third quarter by a 13-8 margin but the JV Bucs still lead by a 32-25 count heading into the fourth quarter.

Keyton Lanier had three points, Carter Zuliani and Ryan Kelley two each and Yardley one in the third quarter.

With Yardley scoring 10 of the 12 fourth-quarter points, with Kelley having the other two, the JV Bucs pulled away for the win taking the final quarter by a 12-5 margin.

Following Yardley in the scoring column for B-U were Westfall with seven points and Ringer and Kelley with four each.

Anthony Corsini led Robert C. Byrd with 10 points.

The junior varsity Bucs are now 5-5 on the season.

They will be back in action Tuesday at Parkersburg South for a 5:45 p.m. tip.
