XC Bucs place third at Doddridge County Invitational

WEST UNION – A pair of top 10 finishes helped the Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers capture a third-place finish in the Doddridge County Invitational Tuesday evening.

Jordan Gillum ran fourth with a time of 18:38.97 while Jack Waggy ran seventh with a time of 18:55.94 for the Buccaneers.

They helped the Bucs finish third out of 14 teams with 77 points.

East Fairmont won the team title with 50 points while Elkins was second with 75 points.

Elkins’ Charlie Smoak won the race with a time of 17:43.44 while Michael Cline of Wood Country Christian took runner-up honors with a time of 17:48.08.

Scoring along with Gillum and Waggy for the Bucs were Reis Leonard in 17th (20:09.02), Brycen Allen in 29th (21:23.43) and Logan Wyatt in 31st (21:32.42).

The rest of the B-U line-up included Alex Casto in 59th (23:41.23), Nicholas Winters in 79th (25:14.36), Lucas Bennett in 82nd (25.38.70), Brandon Landis in 86th (26:18.64), Rhett Ammons in 90th (26:52.89) and Joseph Shipman in 106th (28:48.10).
