WVWC’s Deniz named MEC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan’s Sinasi Emre Deniz and Davis & Elkins’ Shemar Daley have been named the co-MEC Men’s Soccer Offensive Players of the Week, while the University of Charleston’s Marc Torrado earned MEC Defensive Player of the Week honors, the league announced Monday afternoon.

The MEC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.

Deniz, a senior forward from Istanbul, Turkey, helped West Virginia Wesleyan go 1-0-1 this week with a win over California (PA) and a tie against Concord. He scored three goals and fired four shots on goal during the week, with all three goals coming against Cal U in non-conference play.

Daley, a junior forward from Kingston, Jamaica, helped the Senators go 1-1 this week with a win over Frostburg State. He scored three unassisted goals in the victory over the Bobcats on six shots on goal.

Torrado, a senior goalkeeper from Valencia, Spain, helped the Golden Eagles to two wins over MEC opponents last week. The victories came against Davis & Elkins and Notre Dame, with both being shutouts. He grabbed six saves on the week.
