WVWC’s Deniz earns Men’s MEC Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — West Virginia Wesleyan men’s soccer forward Sinasi Emre Deniz was named Mountain East Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, on Monday (Sept. 19).

The WVWC striker achieved the award for the first time in his career. Deniz was a huge factor that led the Bobcats to two wins over MEC opponents last week. The Istanbul, Turkey native scored what would be the game-winning goal versus Concord on Wednesday (Sept. 14).

Deniz concluded the week with a career performance, and achieved his first career multi-goal game. Deniz netted his first goal in the 6th minute that gave Wesleyan an early advantage. The senior scored his final two goals in a span of just over two minutes to seal the win for the ‘Cats.

Deniz’s accolade marks the first time a WVWC men’s soccer player has been awarded MEC Offensive Player of the Week since 2019, when Nika Monaselidze garnered the honor on Oct. 14, 2019.

The Bobcats and Deniz will return to the pitch on Wednesday (Sept. 21) versus nationally-ranked Davis & Elkins
