WVWC volleyball falls in weekend games to Frostburg State and Fairmont State

BUCKHANNON — The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcats played Frostburg State University and Fairmont State at home Friday and Saturday in Rockefeller Center. Wesleyan lost both outings by a 3-1 score.

Against Frostburg State, the Lady Bobcats won the first set 25-19, but dropped the final three sets 25-23, 25-20, and 25-21.

During the first set, the Lady Bobcats got off to hot start led by senior, Hope Arce-Reed, who totaled 11 kills on the night along with freshman, Emily Denison with nine kills. Autumn Molenhouse totaled 25 assists as well before an injury that happened later in the match.

The Bobcats of Frostburg State University were led by Beverly Braun, who totaled 24 kills and Amanda Knieper with 11 kills. Defensively, Hayley Delor and AJ Thompson both totaled five block assists each as well as McKaily Moran-Thompson with four block assists.

Against Fairmont State on Saturday, Wesleyan lost the first set 25-16, won the second set 25-23, and lost sets three and four, 25-20 and 25-18.

During the match, the Lady Bobcats were lead offensively by Olivia Albrecht, who totaled 10 kills on the night along with Denison with nine kills. Senior Makenzie Yates totaled 36 assists with digs. The Lady Bobcats recorded 16 block assists and two block solos. Bhrooke Axe and Denison collected four block assists each.

The Lady Bobcats are set to take on the Golden Eagles of the University of Charleston at home on Tuesday, October 24th at 7 p.m.
