BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital recognized National Health Care Facilities and Engineering Week, October 22-28.
Every year, in the last week of October, we thank our facility and engineering staff for their hard work and dedication. They ensure that we have a safe and efficient environment for all patients, residents, visitors and staff in our hospital and our clinics.
This year’s theme is “Embracing Innovation, Achieving Excellence.”
No events are scheduled Monday, but the week heats up with basketball matchups for Buckhannon-Upshur and West Virginia Wesleyan through Friday.
Glenville State surged past West Virginia Wesleyan 112-66 Saturday as Jalen Knott buried 11 threes on the way to 35 points, fueling a 55-29 halftime lead. Lamont Jones scored 14 off the bench for the Bobcats, who host Charleston on Feb. 18.
West Virginia Wesleyan knocked off MEC leader Glenville State 86-74 at Rockefeller Center, improving to 15-5 (12-4) and tightening the conference race.
Ali Rezai, M.D., executive chair of WVU’s Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, has been named West Virginia University’s 2026 Big 12 Faculty of the Year.
WVDOH accepted bids Feb. 10 and 12 for 24 construction projects, including repaving I-79 from Charleston to Big Chimney. The 2026 focus is maintaining existing infrastructure and improving interstates so more than 70% rate in good condition.
