WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital recently held its second session of the West Virginia Junior Nursing Academy, designed for rising 11th and 12th graders. The program ran from July 29-31 and offered students a comprehensive view of the nursing profession.
Students participated in three full days of activities, joining nurses and other healthcare professionals to explore the various facets of nursing. They rotated through different departments at WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital, gaining insight into nursing careers.
During the academy, students received hands-on lessons in CPR, vital signs, basic first aid, interview and resume skills, cast application, safety and more. The program aimed to provide a practical and immersive experience for those considering a future in healthcare.
A graduation ceremony was held at the conclusion of the session, where participants were awarded certificates of completion.
