WVU Medicine has expanded its Endocrinology Clinic in Morgantown’s Suncrest Towne Centre, creating additional capacity to meet rising patient needs, advance education and research, and provide more specialized services for individuals with hormone- and metabolism-related conditions.
The new space enables the WVU Medicine Division of Endocrinology to bring more of its outpatient services under one roof, including general endocrinology, hospital discharge follow-ups, and diabetes group visits. The team also plans to launch a new Pre-Op Diabetes Clinic to help patients optimize glucose control before surgery.
“This move allows us to better serve patients with the full spectrum of endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid disease, adrenal and pituitary conditions, bone and calcium disorders, reproductive hormone issues, lipid disorders, and obesity,” Nadia Barghouthi, M.D., M.P.H., chief of WVU Medicine Endocrinology and Metabolism, said. “By expanding both our space and our care team, we are improving access and building a stronger foundation for advanced, patient-centered care.”
Expanded care team
The WVU Medicine Endocrinology Clinic continues to grow its multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive, coordinated care, including:
- 12 faculty physicians (with more joining in 2026)
- Nurse practitioners, fellows, diabetes educators, and pharmacists
- Dedicated support staff who help coordinate appointments and insurance needs
Enhanced services and procedures
The Clinic plans to offer specialized testing and procedures to support accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment, such as:
- Thyroid ultrasounds
- Fine needle aspiration biopsies of thyroid nodules
- Dynamic endocrine testing
- Insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor initiation and management
- Placement of implantable continuous glucose monitors
In addition to the Suncrest Towne Centre clinic, WVU Medicine Endocrinology leads specialty programs across the Health System, including a Pituitary Clinic and Cardiometabolic Clinic.
The Division also supports hospitalized patients through inpatient and telemedicine consult services at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital and seven other WVU Medicine hospitals.
“With this investment, we’re not only improving patient access, but we’re also building the future of endocrine care,” Dr. Barghouthi said. “By training more fellows, advancing research, and creating new specialty clinics with partners across WVU Medicine, we’re preparing the next generation of providers while ensuring our patients benefit from the latest knowledge and expertise.”
