The 2025 Roadsides in Bloom calendar is now available for order, and Upshur County residents might see a few familiar names among the photographers featured.

The free calendar, sponsored by the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection’s Adopt-A-Highway program, features 12 pictures of West Virginia wildflowers naturally growing along state roadways. These pictures were chosen from numerous entries submitted by photographers from West Virginia and nearby states.

The photographers featured in the 2025 calendar include:

To order a calendar, complete the online order form, call 1-800-322-5530 or email dep.aah@wv.gov. If you reach voicemail, please leave a message with your name and mailing address, and you will be added to the order list. Requests are limited to one calendar per household, with priority given to West Virginia residents.

Co-sponsored by the WVDEP and the state Division of Highways, the Adopt-A-Highway program is administered by the WVDEP’s Rehabilitation Environmental Action Plan (REAP) and aims to improve the state’s environment by encouraging public involvement in highway litter elimination.

Since the program began in 1988, citizens have cleaned up nearly 70,000 miles of state highways and roads during annual spring and fall Adopt-A-Highway events.

REAP, with the motto “Keeping WV Clean and Green,” was established in 2005 and works to clean up West Virginia and eliminate litter. The program empowers citizens by providing technical, financial and resource assistance for cleanup and recycling efforts. More information is available on the REAP webpage.
