Wrestling Little Bucs take first in home “Brawling in the New Year” Tournament

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School wrestling Little Bucs continued to impress this season as they took first place in their “Brawling in the New Year” Tournament on Tuesday at the middle school.

The Little Bucs won the eight-team event while Summersville was second, Preston was third and Braxton was fourth.

Other teams competing were Gilmer, Petersburg, Webster and South Morgantown.

The Little Bucs had two wrestlers go a perfect 5-0.

They were Jeremy Jett at 90 pounds and Josh Thomas at 95 pounds.

Seven grapplers finished with 4-1 marks – Brianna Howes (116 pounds), Maya Garcia (123 pounds), Trenton Ward (128 pounds), Preston Harris (145 pounds), Eli Watkins (155 pounds), Alex Hawkins (171 pounds and Chance Morgan (190 pounds).

Four other Little Bucs posted winning marks as Will Kennedy (78 pounds), Tucker Mason (102 pounds), Riel Figueroa (110 pounds) and Hunter Cowger (135 pounds) all went 3-2.

The Little Bucs will be back in action Saturday, Jan. 8 at the Fairmont Field House Classic.
