Wrestling Bucs compete at Parkersburg tri-outing

PARKERSBURG – The Buckhannon-Upshur wrestling Buccaneers competed in a road tri-outing with Parkersburg and George Washington last week.

The Bucs came up just short against George Washington with a 38-36 loss and dropped a 48-22 decision to Parkersburg.

Buckhannon-Upshur had two wrestlers go a perfect 2-0 as both Ian Cornett (113 pounds) and Andrew McDowell (138) were perfect on the day.

B-U’s Liam Garcia did not wrestle at this event.

Going 1-1 for the Bucs were Jermey Jett (106), Maya Garcia (132), Evan McDowell (144), Kyzer Hernandez (150), Jeremiah Thompson (175) and Oscar Blonn (215).

The Bucs were slated to host a quad with Herbert Hoover, Preston and Bridgeport on Saturday with it being “Senior Day.”

They will compete again this Saturday hosting the Big 10 Conference championships at 10 a.m.
