The west side of Buckhannon lost power Monday night when a car drove into a power pole on West Main Street, just below St. Joseph’s Hospital, at about 8:45 p.m.

The wreck snapped the pole in half, causing much of town to the west of Route 20 to lose power. The stoplight at the courthouse also went dark.

West Main Street was shut down while emergency responders cleared the wreck and awaited the arrival of Mon Power.

Update: Let there be light! Power was restored at about 9:30 p.m.
