West Virginia Wesleyan College postpones Homecoming, Founders Day to April 2022

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan College is moving Homecoming 2021 until April 22-24, 2022 due to rising COVID-19 cases in Upshur County and West Virginia.

The decision was made by the College’s Office of Development after consulting with members of the West Virginia Wesleyan College Alumni Council and other alumni stakeholders.

The Office of Development had been moving forward with plans for the Oct. 8-10 weekend, but decided to postpone events out of an abundance of caution.

West Virginia’s COVID infection rate is the highest in the nation and Upshur County has the highest infection rate in West Virginia. Other factors that went into the decision were projections that the rate of COVID infections in West Virginia will not likely peak until the week of Homecoming. Registration numbers were also far below average and a number of alumni indicated they would not attend due to COVID concerns.

Alumni who registered for Homecoming will receive information about refunds and April registration options shortly.

WVWC will announce plans for the April weekend of events including the traditional Founders Day, class reunion events and weekend celebration at a later date.
