West Virginia reports 3,159 active COVID cases, two new deaths on Monday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Monday that 3,159 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s a decrease of 199 since the last report. 

Locally, reported active case totals are: Upshur (48), Barbour (20), Lewis (29), Randolph (18) and Webster (26) counties. In Upshur County, that’s a decrease of one active case over the weekend.

Two additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – an 82-year old male from Marion County and a 92-year old female from Berkeley County. 

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of July 25, 2022, there are currently 3,159 active COVID-19 cases statewide. There have been two deaths reported since the last report, with a total of 7,123 deaths attributed to COVID-19,” according to a press release. 

About 325 residents are hospitalized with the virus, with 44 currently in intensive care and 13 on a ventilator. The daily percent positive was 16.01%. 

About 55% of the state has been vaccinated for COVID-19.
