West Virginia reports 1,882 active COVID cases on Wednesday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Wednesday that 1,882 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s a decrease of 23 since the last report. 

Locally, reported active case totals are: Upshur (30), Barbour (18), Lewis (31), Randolph (18) and Webster (8) counties. In Upshur County, that’s an increase of four active cases in the last 24 hours. 

No additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of June 22, 2022, there are currently 1,882 active COVID-19 cases statewide. There have been no deaths reported since the last report, with a total of 7,018 deaths attributed to COVID-19,” according to a press release. 

About 187 residents are hospitalized with the virus, with 22 currently in intensive care and five on a ventilator. The daily percent positive was 9.10%. 

About 55% of the state has been vaccinated for COVID-19.
