West Virginia man charged after firing shots at tractor-trailer on I-77

A 22-year-old Winifrede man was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment and brandishing after allegedly firing two shots at a tractor-trailer during a road rage incident on Interstate 77.

The West Virginia State Police say a 22-year-old man is facing charges after firing two shots at a tractor-trailer on Interstate 77 in Kanawha County.

According to a state police press release, at about 4:47 p.m. on May 7, 2025, Cpl. S. J. Borsman responded to a road rage and shots fired call near mile marker 86 southbound.

Borsman made contact with Scott Walker, 22, of Winifrede, who called Metro and turned himself in.

During the investigation, police determined Walker fired two shots from a 9 mm handgun at a tractor-trailer driven by Singh Gurpreet, 33, of Hendricks, Indiana. Both rounds struck near the driver’s side door.

Walker surrendered the handgun as evidence, and Borsman recovered two shell casings and one spent round.

Walker was arrested and charged with two counts of wanton endangerment and one count of brandishing.
