West Virginia Department of Human Services launches new website to improve public access to services and information

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Department of Human Services (DoHS) has launched its newly redesigned website, dohs.wv.gov, along with updated websites for each of its bureaus. This rollout marks a key milestone following the official reorganization of the former West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) into three separate departments, in accordance with House Bill 2006. The legislation was passed during the 2023 Legislative Session and was signed by Governor Jim Justice on March 6, 2023. The transition became effective on January 1, 2024.

The new websites were designed to make it easier for residents, partners and providers to find information, complete applications and access resources quickly. Each website features improved navigation, streamlined forms and clearly defined service pathways.

“Unveiling these new websites demonstrates our commitment to improving how West Virginians access essential services,” said Alex Mayer, Cabinet Secretary of the Department of Human Services. “Our focus is to ensure every West Virginian can quickly and confidently access the information and support they need.”

In addition to the main website (dohs.wv.gov), updated sites have been released for the following bureaus and offices:

DoHS promotes a thriving and healthy West Virginia by providing access to critical healthcare, essential social services and benefits and trusted information, with a special emphasis on supporting vulnerable populations.
