Wesleyan’s Bentley, Whiting earn Atlantic Region honors

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — Two West Virginia Wesleyan College men’s soccer players have earned all-region honors.

Overall, 12 men’s soccer players from the Mountain East Conference have earned All-Atlantic Region honors by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association.

MEC teams dominated the first team with eight selections including the region’s Player of the Year in Arthur Favero of Notre Dame. NDC defender Paolo Termine and goalkeeper Daniele De Angelis also earned first team honors. Charleston’s Armando Tikvic (D), Williams N’Dah (D) and Gabriel Cabral (M) also earned first team honors. Midfielders Matthew Bentley of West Virginia Wesleyan College and Martin Minuzzi of Wheeling Jesuit were placed on the first team.

UC’s Freddy Tracey (F) and Christos Charalambous (M) were second team selections, along with Urbana’s Jasminko Dizdarevic (M) and Wesleyan’s Zach Whiting (D).

Wesleyan tennis teams sweep Shaw

West Virginia Wesleyan closed its Carolina swing with a sweep of Shaw, as the men rolled 7-0 and the women won 5-2. The Bobcats vaulted into the ITA Top 50, with the men at No. 39 and the women at No. 46—Wesleyan’s first women’s ranking since 2010.
