BUCKHANNON – The West Virginia Wesleyan volleyball team played their first home match against the Tigers of Salem University on Wednesday. The Lady Bobcats won the match sweeping the Tigers in three sets, winning them 25-16, 25-21, and 25-15, in an all around dominant performance.
At 24-16 in the first set, Sydney Workman collect ed a service ace, hitting just inside the back-line, to propel Wesleyan to win the first set.
Offensively for Wesleyan, Emily Denison led the team with 10 kills followed by Bhrooke Axe with nine kills and Alauna Wilson with eight kills.
Helena Kelly tallied five total service aces as well as eight digs defensively. Alexis Moescher at libero, led the team with 10 total digs, continuing critical rallies for the Lady Bobcats. Setter Jalynn West totaled 33 assists along with four kills.
The volleyball team will compete in the Big Blue Classic Tournament at Bluefield State University. They will play Salem University again on Friday, Sept. 13 at 2 p.m.
