Wesleyan throws for 439 yards but falls to Fairmont State, 55-20

BUCKHANNON — West Virginia Wesleyan College’s Nathan Payne threw for a season high 439 yards against visiting Fairmont State University but it wasn’t enough to stop a dynamic Falcon running game and the Bobcats remained winless, falling 55-20 Saturday in Buckhannon.

Payne’s big total came from 31 completions out of 47 attempts, including two fourth-quarter long balls straight down the middle of the field. The first went to Aamir Almusawwir for 56 yards at the 10:52 mark and just 90 seconds later, Amir Jordan caught a ball across the middle and racked up after-catch-yards for a 75-yard touchdown.

Wesleyan couldn’t find much room running ball, totaling just four net yards while giving up 279 net yards to the Falcons.

The Bobcats wrap up the 2023 season at Glenville State University on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m.
