Southwest Minnesota State 6, West Virginia Wesleyan 3, Pitt.-Johnstown 3 (Thursday)
CLERMONT (FLa.) — Down, 2-0, an Andie Dizon three-run double gave Wesleyan a 3-2 lead in the top of the third, but that was the only scoring Wesleyan would get as they dropped a 6-3 decision.
West Virginia Wesleyan 5, Pitt.-Johnstown 3 (Thursday)
West Virginia Wesleyan powered past Pitt.-Johnstown 5-3 behind a dominant first inning and solid pitching. In the first inning, West Virginia Wesleyan took a 5-0 lead with a two-run single from Kendall Stoffel, followed by another two-run single from Madison Austra and a hit-by-pitch to Lynzee Hague. The second inning saw Pitt.-Johnstown responded with two runs, courtesy of Isabella DePalma’s one-run single and Sara Solberg’s one-run single to make it 5-2. In the fifth inning, Julia Mooney doubled to bring in a run, closing the gap to 5-3, but the score remained unchanged after that.
West Virginia Wesleyan 4, Bemidji State 1 (Friday)
West Virginia Wesleyan secured a solid 4-1 victory over Bemidji State in a well-played game at the Spring Games. The first scoring play came in the third inning when Bemidji State’s Mariah Stevenson doubled to left field, bringing home Alexa Christenson for a 1-0 lead. Wesleyan responded in the fourth inning to tie the game. Madison Austra led off with a single to center, driving in Kendall Stoffel, and Andie Dizon added another run by scoring off a throw to make it 1-1. The game remained tied until the seventh inning, where Wesleyan broke it open with three runs. First, Dizon doubled to center, driving in Jaylynn Hodge to give Wesleyan a 2-1 lead. Then, Kendall Stoffel delivered with a two- run double to shortstop, scoring Dizon and Hallie Dinklocker for the 4-1 advantage. Wesleyan’s Morgan Greene was impressive in the circle, earning the win with a complete game performance. She allowed just one run on seven hits while striking out seven and walking none. Greene was efficient, needing only 93 pitches to close out the victory. Dizon was a standout for Wesleyan, finishing 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Stoffel also had a key two double, going 2-for-4 at the plate. For Bemidji State, Mariah Stevenson went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Wayne State 6, West Virginia Wesleyan 4 (Friday)
Wayne State (Neb.) rallied with a strong performance late in the game to secure a 6-4 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan.The game saw solid pitching, timely hitting, and key defensive plays from both teams, but it was Wayne State who capitalized on the big moments. Wayne State took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Jordyn Klein. In the third, Maddie Scobee’s two-run single made it 3-0. West Virginia Wesleyan responded in the fifth, tying the game at 4-4 with RBIs from Kelsi Brown, Lynzee Hague, and Brooklyn Osburn. In the seventh, Wayne State regained the lead with an RBI double from Emilee Marth, followed by a triple from Grace Lucka and an RBI single from Kennadi Borngrebe, pushing the score to 6-4, where it stayed.
