Wesleyan men’s golf team selected fourth in MEC preseason poll

BRIDGEPORT — The University of Charleston men’s golf team has been tabbed as the preseason favorite in the 2024 Mountain East Conference men’s golf preseason poll.
 
UC received eight-first place votes and had 80 total points during the voting to take the top spot. Charleston finished second last season at the MEC men’s golf championship, however UC placed second at the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional and qualified for the NCAA National Championship.
 
Davis & Elkins had one-first place vote and tallied 68 total points as they took the No. 2 spot. D&E won the MEC men’s golf championship a season ago. Glenville State (first-place vote and 65 total points) took the No. 3 spot, while West Virginia Wesleyan (53) and Fairmont State (48) rounded out the top five.
 
West Liberty (46), Concord (31), Wheeling (25), West Virginia State (18) and Point Park (16) rounded out the bottom half of the preseason poll.
 
The men’s golf season gets underway on Sept. 9th for several MEC institutions while the 2024 MEC Men’s Golf Championship is set for Oct. 7-9 at The Resort at Glade Springs the Cobb Course.
