Wesleyan lacrosse suffers bad 23-1 loss at Frostburg State

FROSTBURG (Md.) — The West Virginia Wesleyan lacrosse team was thoroughly dominated by the home-standing Frostburg State Bobcats 23-1, Wednesday.

Wesleyan didn’t register its only goal until the very end of the game. With 1:57 remaining Erin Mobley kept the Lady Bobcats from suffering a shutout.

Frostburg State scored 11 goals before the first quarter ended and went into the halftime locker room up 15-0. Wesleyan top scorers Mobley and Talia Berardo were shut down and starting goalie Ella Gomez gave up 20 goals in 50:45 of net minding.

Frostburg State spread its scoring across 14 different players, nine of which added a single goal to the team total. Neila Haney led the Bobcats with four goals and Camden Demaio and Brittyn Leonard each scored three.

Wesleyan will try to get back to its early season winning form on Saturday, March 30 when Notre Dame College (Ohio) comes to Buckhannon for a game that starts at noon. Admission to Cebe Ross Field is free.
