BUCKHANNON — The Davis & Elkins Senators overwhelmed a roster shortened West Virginia Wesleyan team, 20–6, on Ross Field, Wednesday
Davis & Elkins (D&E) wasted no time establishing control. Rylee Anderson opened the scoring with a free-position goal less than three minutes into play. She tallied four goals in the opening period, with teammates Ari Hinton, Josepine Whorton, Ke’ya Stevens, and Izzie Sevila all contributing to the early effort.
Wesleyan managed one goal in the opening half—a free-position strike from Nyah Elmer late in the first quarter—as the Lady Bobcats struggled to find rhythm against D&E. By halftime, the Senators held a 14–2 advantage.
Davis & Elkins limited Wesleyan to just 17 total shots (10 on goal) and forced 26 turnovers, including multiple caused turnovers from Morgan Rogers, Sierra Walesheck, and Emelia Johnson. The Senators also won 10 of 11 clear attempts and scooped up 16 ground balls.
Despite the loss, Wesleyan found a bright spot in attacker Nyah Elmer, who netted four goals on six shots and contributed four draw controls.
Midfielder Raveena Navalgund added a goal and an assist but also tallied four turnovers and three fouls in a physical outing. Francesca Sloan scored once and led the team with eight shots but struggled with accuracy.
Wesleyan’s goalkeepers faced a relentless barrage, ith Ella Gomez recording 18 saves in the first half and Tatiyana Blacknall adding six more in the second. Combined, the duo faced 52 shots, including 35 on goal.
For the Senators, Megan Bauer and Daelyn Hardnack split time in net and combined for seven saves on 13 shots faced. Bauer was particularly active outside the crease, recording multiple ground balls and defensive stops.
