Wesleyan lacrosse ends year with 23-5 loss to Charleston

BUCKHANNON — West Virginia Wesleyan lost to the University of Charleston, 23-5, in women’s lacrosse on Thursday at Ross Field in its final regular season match.

Charleston opened the game by scoring nine goals in the first quarter while limiting Wesleyan to just one. Midfielder Madison Partridge led the charge with three goals in the opening frame. She was complemented by Willow Cooper, who added four goals and an assist, and Sylvi Jenner, who tallied two goals and two assists.

The Golden Eagles continued in the second half, adding nine more goals while giving up just three. In total, Charleston outshot Wesleyan 34-12 and forced 19 turnovers, including five caused by Wesleyan standout Francesca Sloan, who also scored once.

Nyah Elmer led the Lady Bobcats with two goals, while Emma Adcock, Ashlyn LaPlante, and Francesca Sloan each netted one. Sloan and Adcock were also active on the defensive end, combining for eight caused turnovers.

Goalkeepers Ella Gomez and Tatiyana Blacknall combined for 10 saves.
