Wesleyan golf teams compete in UC Invitational

SISSONVILLE — The University of Charleston hosted the UC Invitational at the Edgewood Country Club this week that both West Virginia Wesleyan golf teams played in.

MEN

The men’s golf team placed fourth of eight teams with all schools participating from the Mountain East Conference. They shot +42 as a team behind Davis and Elkins, Glenville State, and University of Charleston. The last day, Tuesday March 26 got canceled due to weather.

For the player leaderboard, Mateo Zolezzi and Francisco Taboada both tied for third playing +2 through two rounds. Mateo would shot +4 in round one and -2 in round two. Francisco shot par in round one and +2 in round two. Rigel Wilson placed 28th and Cole Price placed 34th as well.

The men’s team will play at Penn Oaks March 31st- April 2nd hosted by West Chester.

WOMEN

The women’s golf team placed eighth shooting +188 for round one at the Edgewood invite in Sissonville. Junior Remmey Lohr tied for fifth overall, shooting +12 in round one. Freshman dual sport athlete Sydney Baird placed 26th by playing +26. Sophomore Faith Yoho played +57 placing her 39th.

The women’s golf team will have their next opportunity at the MEC Spring, hosted by West Liberty. It will take place in Hannastown Golf Club in Pennsylvania April 7- April 9.
