BUCKHANNON — West Virginia Wesleyan College continued to fight for its first win of the season Saturday but came up short, 24-7, to visiting West Liberty University at Cebe Ross Field.
The Bobcats recorded its only points with 1:09 left on the clock when Quinton Pulley found a wide open Joseph Triplett for a 12-yard touchdown to dodge the shutout.
Defensively, Wesleyan held the Hilltoppers to the lowest point total of any of its opponents in 2023.
Ely Ghameshlougy led all tacklers with seven solo take downs, followed by Amir Franklin-Branch who had six tackles and one fumble recovery in the opening minute of the game.
The Bobcats welcome UNC Pembroke to Cebe Ross Field on Oct. 21 at 1 p.m.
