CARNEGIE (Pa.) — The West Virginia Weslyan women and men’s cross country teams were in action this past weekend at the Carnegie Mellon Cross Country Meet. The women came in fifth out of 16 teams and the men came in second out of 16 teams.
The women’s team had three top 30 finishers in the 5k race. Leading the way for the Lady Bobcats was Leigha Hall who finished second with a time of 18:33.8 minutes. Marimo Akita finished in 19th place with a time of 19:39.7 minutes and Lindsey Dillon finished 29th with a time of 19:55.6.
The men’s team had three top 20 finishers in the 8k race. Leading the way was Anthony Sanders finishing second out of 132 runners with a time of 25:31.8 minutes. Evan Pyles also had a strong race with a fifth place finish with the time of 25:52.8 minutes. Rounding out the top three for Wesleyan was Cade Robinson who placed 18th with a time of 26:37.7 minutes.
The two teams will be back in action next weekend with the Mountain East Conference race.
