Vonda Dee Allman

Vonda Dee Allman, age 62, of Buckhannon, died on Friday, January 17, 2025, at her home.

She was born in Weston, WV on May 17, 1962, a daughter of the late Lytle Lee Batten and Olive Montgomery Batten who survives in Buckhannon. Vonda was united in marriage on February 28, 1981, to Michael Allman who survives.

In addition to her mother and her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Adrienne McVey and husband Steve of Buckhannon and one son, Zachary Allman and wife Wendy of Buckhannon; three loving grandchildren: Adelaide McVey, Mia and Kathryn Allman; one brother, Lytle L. Batten, II of Clendenin, WV; two sisters: Fonda Holehouse of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, Melissa Bolosan and husband Keone of Morgantown, WV; four sisters-in-law: Dawn Batten of Hanover, MD, Sue and husband Lew Petonick of Fairmont, Linda Browning of Lawrence, Kansas, and Judi and husband Les Lockhart of St. Augustine, Florida; many special nieces and nephews, cousins and a few aunts and uncles also survive.

She was preceded in death by her father, one brother Andrew Clay Batten, her father and mother-in-law Eugene and Betty Allman, and a brother-in-law Mike Browning.

Vonda was a 1980 graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School and a 1982 graduate of Fairmont State. She was employed as a Lab Tech at St. Joseph’s Hospital for twenty-five years. Her coworkers were lifelong friends. She also cherished her time as a youth leader and teacher as a member of South Buckhannon Mission Church. She loved to take pictures and was an avid animal lover. Vonda was happiest when spending time with her family and was so proud of each of them. Her favorite role was becoming Nanny to her three precious granddaughters, whom she loved dearly.

Friends will be received at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 4-6:00 PM, the funeral hour with Pastor Ed Lowther officiating. Following the services, the family has honored her wishes for cremation.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to WVU Children’s Hospital at 1 Medical Center Drive, Morgantown, WV 26506.
