FROSTBURG, Md. — The West Virginia Wesleyan (5-13, 1-5 Mountain East Conference) volleyball team fell to Frostburg State (14-8, 2-4 MEC) on Friday (Oct. 7) evening at the Bobcat Arena in Frostburg, Md.

WVWC Leaders
Hope Arce-Reed was the only attacker to reach double-digit kills. The Maryland native totaled 11 kills. Autumn Molenhouse and Alexis Moeschler each chipped in a pair of service aces. Joelle Lalla tallied two blocks. Payton Hefner passed 13 assists while Moeshler grabbed 13 digs.

Inside the First Set
The home team won the first two points of the match. Wesleyan responded early with a 5-0 run, thanks to two kills from Lalla, a kill from Arce-Reed and a service ace from Molenhouse. FSU won the next three points to even the score at five. With the score tied at 14, Frostburg State went on a critical 4-0 run to build a four-point lead. FSU closed out the first set by winning the final seven decisions and won the opening set, 25-15.

Inside the Second Set
Kills from Lalla and Arce-Reed cut the Frostburg State lead to one point at 9-8. FSU increased its lead to 13-8 after winning five consecutive points. A Jayla Cowherd kill that was assisted by Sarah McCall trimmed the Frostburg State lead to four points. Frostburg State won 12 of the last 17 points of the middle set and won 25-14.

Inside the Third Set
Both teams split the first six points of the third set. The home team doubled its score without surrendering a point to WVWC and went up 12-6. Frostburg State extended its lead to 21-9 late in what would be the final set. Wesleyan mustered a 4-0 run that included kills from Hefner, Malaysia Ampy-Jackson and Lalla. FSU won three of the final five points to complete the sweep.
