Vandalia Health Davis Medical Center’s diabetes education and management support group to meet on June 12

Vandalia Health Davis Medical Center will host a free support group meeting June 12 at the Randolph County Senior Center for people with diabetes, pre-diabetes, and their caregivers to learn and share management strategies.

Vandalia Health Davis Medical Center’s support group for community members with diabetes, pre-diabetes and their caregivers will hold its next meeting at 11 a.m., June 12, at the Randolph County Senior Center.

The free event is open to all individuals seeking guidance on managing Type 2 and Type 1 diabetes and prediabetes as well as family members and caregivers who want to learn more about providing support.

“We understand that living with diabetes can be challenging, so we want to provide the resources and support our community members need to live healthier, fuller lives,” said Jim Severino, Registered Dietician and Certified Diabetes Educator for Davis Medical Center. “This group will not only provide access to useful information but also create a community of individuals who can support and motivate each other along their health journeys.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of educational resources provided by Davis Medical Center health care experts, including diabetes-friendly recipes and practical ideas for meal planning, making it easier for individuals to enjoy food that is both satisfying and helpful for diabetes management. Participants will have the chance to ask questions, share experiences, and learn from both health care professionals and their peers.

The June 12 meeting is the second in a planned series of sessions, with each gathering focusing on a specific aspect of diabetes management, from nutrition and exercise to medication and mental health.
