Upshur County Social Studies stars shine at first countywide fair

BUCKHANNON — Nine Upshur County School students will advance on to the regional social studies Fair after picking up top honors at Saturday’s first Upshur County Social Studies Fair.

The county fair took place at the Event Center at Brushy Fork Saturday, Feb. 9. Students in grades 3-12 participated in the fair. Those who received a 90-or-higher score will compete in the Region 7 Social Studies Fair Thursday, March 21 at the WACO Center at Glenville State College.

Students’ projects were evaluated based on their abstracts (an in-depth outline with an official bibliography), project presentations and oral presentations, according to a press release from Upshur County Schools.

Students pictured below all received a 90-or-higher score and will compete in the March 21 regional fair.
