Upshur County Board of Education Meeting Agenda: December 13, 2022

A 76-year-old man died in a climbing fall at Seneca Rocks on July 11. The Pendleton County Office of Emergency Management said the man was climbing the east side (back side) of the rocks when the accident occurred.

Buckhannon’s July 13-17 calendar includes public meetings, Festival Fridays and the farmers market. Announcements cover water line upgrades, meeting cancellations and upcoming community events.

P.E.O. International’s local chapter will host a multi-family yard sale on Saturday, July 18, at Immanuel Chapel Church. Proceeds will support scholarships and educational opportunities for women, with all purchases cash-and-carry.

Six West Virginia University alumni have joined the WVU Alumni Association Board of Directors for six-year terms. The Association also elected new Executive Committee officers during its annual business meeting.

Upshur County Summer Basketball League closed Week Two with three days of Buccaneer and Bobcat Division action at WVWC. The regular season ends this week, with the postseason tournament tipping off Friday.

Buckhannon Post 7 opens the Area 2 double-elimination tournament Tuesday at 4 p.m. against Doddridge at Bridgeport High School. Despite a 1-12 record, Post 7 hopes clean defense, effective pitching and timely hits can spark a postseason run.
