University Relations and Marketing receives award from West Virginia PRSA Chapter

Fairmont State University’s University Relations and Marketing team was awarded the John H.Womack, Jr. Chapter Service Award by the West Virginia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA-WV) during their annual awards event.

The award is named for a long-time member and Awards chair John Hunter Womack, Jr. who gave so much to the chapter throughout the years. President-Elect Rachel Coffman said the award is a way to honor his memory.

“Our first recipients of the award are a hard act to follow but this year’s winner is up to the challenge, always ready with a ‘yes’ and willingness to support our PRSA chapter,” she said.

“Fairmont State is an integral part of our chapter in North Central West Virginia and I know for many years serving as the professional development chair, this entity couldn’t be more gracious to work with.”

From in-kind donations to tremendous dedication in the industry, Coffman said, Fairmont State has never hesitated to roll out the red carpet for PRSA-WV.

“Through the leadership of President Martin and Vice President of University Relations and Marketing Lyndsey Dugan, URM is encouraged to give back to our community and industry however possible,” Jessica Sharps, director of communications, said. “This award recognizes that spirit of service which is a core value of the Falcon family.”

For President Mirta Martin, this award recognizes a team whose goal it is to spread the University’s good news. “Congratulations to Fairmont State’s University Relations and Marketing team on receiving this award.

I’m fortunate to have them in my corner on a daily basis, and not at all surprised they’ve been honored in this way. They tirelessly work behind the scenes to share the stories that define the heart and soul of our community.

Their support of PRSA-WV – and vice versa – has been integral to the University’s recent success and progress.”
