UCRC announces pre-registration, details for fifth annual Turkey Trot 5K

BUCKHANNON — The fifth annual Upshur County Recreation Complex Turkey Trot is back!

This year’s run is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28. Registration opens at 8 a.m. at Jawbone Park in downtown Buckhannon. Pre-registration, in order to guarantee a T-shirt, costs $30 and ends Friday, Nov. 15.

The link to pre-register is here: https://www.flipcause.com/secure/cause_pdetails/MjIxMzEx/.

Registration on the day of the event is $35, and commemorative race T-shirts may be available while supplies last.

UCRC President Mitchell Shaw encouraged residents and visitors to get out for some Thanksgiving morning exercise while also supporting a great cause.

“We’re very excited about our 5th Annual Turkey Trot 5k,” Shaw said. “It has continued to grow throughout the years, and we hope that’s the case this year. This is intended to be a fun run, so people of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to come out. However, we do have some prizes for the competitive runners out there as well.”

Shaw said participating in the run is a great chance for anyone curious about the forthcoming John C. Allen Regional Hub to get their questions answered.

“With the recent public information release regarding the rec complex by the County Commission, this is a great time for the community to come together to support that great cause and get another glimpse at what can be expected and possibly have some questions answered as well,” he said.
