The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Thursday that 1,910 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s an increase of 152 since the last report.
Locally, COVID-19 cases are active in Upshur (26), Barbour (18), Lewis (40), Randolph (15) and Webster (35) counties. In Upshur County, that’s a decrease of two active cases in the last 24 hours.
Five additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – a 75-year old male from Randolph County, a 62-year old male from Randolph County, a 66-year old male from Kanawha County, a 92-year old male from Marion County, and an 88-year old male from Kanawha County.
“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of July 29, 2021, there have been 3,115,799 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 166,748 total cases and 2,944 deaths,” according to a press release.
The daily percent positive was 4.35%.
A total of 877,404 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said. That’s about 49% of the state.
