BUCKHANNON — While younger children often get the spotlight during the holiday season, one Buckhannon business is making sure teenagers aren’t forgotten.
Trumps Salon has unveiled its Angel Tree featuring 22 high school students and a list of items they would like for Christmas. All gifts and donations must be delivered to the salon on Main Street by December 12.
“We started it because a lot of the older kids get left out at Christmas, so we just wanted to spread a little Christmas joy and ensure the kids have something to open Christmas morning,” said salon owner April Jeffries. “It’s a good way for the community to help out, along with the salon, because otherwise they might not have that.”

Jeffries works with counselors at the high school to identify students for the Angel Tree.
“I’ve noticed high schoolers usually ask for things they really need — clothing, shoes, hygiene items, bedding supplies, drawing supplies,” Jeffries said. “Then we also do a goodie bag filled with food, snacks and drinks for them to have during Christmas break.”
Other items students request include gloves and winter shoes. The gifts will be picked up at the salon and distributed at the school a week before Christmas break.
Those who don’t want to adopt an angel or shop for specific items can still help.
“People have also come in and donated items or money,” Jeffries said. “We are happy to take donations.”
