Trick-or-Treat in Buckhannon to proceed as planned on Halloween

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — The City of Buckhannon and Buckhannon Police Department’s events, Trunk-or-Treat (Wednesday night) and Trick-or-Treat (Thursday night), will proceed as planned, the city announced Wednesday afternoon.

Please dress appropriately, as the weather forecast indicates we expect to see some rain. However, the temperatures tomorrow evening are expected to still be in the 60s during Trick-or-Treat and the sustained wind is forecast to be at 10-15 mph, much lower than the 31-39 mph rate that triggers a wind advisory.

Please see the hourly weather graph starting at noon on Thursday, which was taken from the National Weather Service website Wednesday. Also, please note that the chance of a thunderstorm is very low initially at the 6 p.m. Trick-or-Treat start time, and drops off to negligible by 7:30 p.m.

It may be a change from the San Diego-like weather we’ve been experiencing, but it is nearly November in West Virginia, after all. Please dress for the weather and enjoy Halloween! Remember to bring lights, wear reflective clothing, and keep a close eye on children.

Those in vehicles should take caution and be watching for Trick-or-Treaters tomorrow night from 6 – 7:30 p.m. within city limits, and until 8 p.m. in the county.
