Three Lady Bucs earn Big 10 All-Conference basketball honors

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Bucs landed three players on the 2022-23 Big 10 All-Conference basketball team that was selected by the conference’s coaches.

Senior forward/center Kendall Currence and junior guard Kenna Maxwell were named to the First Team while sophomore forward Alyssa Abel was named to the Second Team.

Maxwell led the team in scoring with 12.3 points per game while also leading the team in assists (61) and three-point field goals made (44).

Currence was third on the team in scoring averaging 8.3 points per game and was second on the squad in rebounding with 4.2 per game. She led the team in blocks with 20.

Abel averaged 9.5 points per game which was second on the team and paced the team with 6.7 rebounds per outing. She was also first in the team in steals averaging 2.2 per game.

The Lady Bucs of head coach Rob Kittle finished the year with a 13-12 record advancing to the regional tournament.

Olivia Toland, who led the North Marion Huskies to the Class AAA championship, was named the Big 10 Conference Player of the Year.

James Beckman of East Fairmont led the Bees to a 23-3 record was named the Big 10 Conference Coach of the Year.
