BUCKHANNON – My Buckhannon is proud to present another edition of the Hank Ellis All-Stars. We will select a female and male athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur each week that has had an exemplary week on the mat, in the pool or on the basketball court.

Our Hank Ellis All-Stars for the week of Jan. 17-23 are Tucker Hurst and Shelby McDaniels.

Hurst is a senior on the wrestling team. He won the 138-pound weight division in the competitive Brooke Classic over the weekend.

Hurst, seeded seventh in his division, upset the second and third-seeded wrestlers en route to the finals and the championship. He defeated Robert Allison of Trinity High School for the title win.

McDaniels is a senior guard on the basketball team. In their only game of the week, McDaniels helped the Lady Bucs down Robert C. Byrd with 20 points and six rebounds.

More importantly, McDaniels became just the third Lady Buc to become a 1,000-point scorer with a three-pointer in the fourth quarter.

Congratulations to Hurst and McDaniels as our weekly winners of the Hank Ellis All-Stars honor.
