BUCKHANNON – My Buckhannon is proud to present another edition of the Hank Ellis All-Stars. Each week we will select a female and male athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur that has had an exemplary week on the basketball court, the swimming pool or the wrestling mat.
Our Hank Ellis All-Stars for the week of Feb. 20 – Feb. 26 are Liam Garcia and Alyssa Abel.
Garcia is junior on the Buccaneer wrestling team.
Garcia claimed the Region I championships for the Bucs in the 120-pound weight class. He won a 6-4 decision over Kaden Harding of John Marshall in the semis and then won a 12-4 major decision over Colton Gillespie of University in the title clash.
Abel is a sophomore on the Lady Buc basketball team.
She helped lead the Lady Bucs to an upset win over Bridgeport in the sectional opener with 11 points. She contributed nine points, six rebounds and three steals in the sectional title game against University.
